The Reappearance of Rachel Price by Holly Jackson

is Holly Jackson capable of writing a bad, boring book? so far I’d say no!

I have loved every book of hers I picked up, and The Reappearance of Rachel Price was no exception! This was almost a reverse thriller? You think you have it all figured out right at the beginning, but your theories continuously degrade as the story goes on.

I was hooked right from the very beginning, and managed to read this all in one day at the cottage!

EXCELLENT novel! Kate Quinn did a wonderful job of building up the characters and I found myself so easily rooting for them!

With writing about WW2 and it being a sensitive, horrible part of our history, I can sometimes find the books overwhelming and disturbing. However, this novel follows a band of strong female characters as they work against the Nazi’s, and that really resonated with me. Often in war novels, the women are working to help the men who have been risking their lives - however, there were so many women working throughout the war, risking their lives and making choices that aided the war effort tremendously. Kate Quinn did an excellent job giving me group of women to admire.

I love a book with a strong female lead, and with this book being based around actual females within history and the heroic and dangerous steps they took to work against Germany during World War 2, it was not hard for me to devour! I’m on the hunt for some biographies now, and I’m looking forward to reading The Huntress!

The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller

I can’t state enough how much I LOVED this book. Madeline Miller is an amazing author. Her writing style takes you into this amazing world of history she is presenting, and makes it so easy to picture the characters and their surroundings!

This book had an unexpected relationship in it that I was rooting for the entire time, and ended in such a beautiful way. Based around actual historical events of Ancient Greece and the people who were involved, Miller does an amazing job in educating you on an historical Greek war and Greek mythology, while also developing the characters in a way that makes you fall in love.

I would DEFINITELY recommend giving this novel a read, and will be reading it again in the (potentially near) future.
