What a fun book! Action, adventure, comedy and a great cast of characters. A middle aged heroine who defies the usual hero profile. Set in the 12th century on the Indian Ocean. I really enjoyed the variety of characters from different backgrounds, religions, genders and sexualities.

What a strange and funny book and I mean that in the best way possible! Told from the monster's POV. Gory and gross, romantic and funny.

I loved the darkness of this book and the concept of a monster inside a woman. However, I'm not sure if I just wasn't digging the audiobook narrator or what but I found myself bored for parts of the book and annoyed at the main character quite a bit. I don't see myself reading the second book. It's still a solid story, just not for me I guess.

For fans of Ursula Le Guin and Diana Wynne Jones. If you love Howl's Moving Castle, you'll like this. Children protect adults from a deadly fog brought on by powerful wizards battling over ages.

Dark, moody autumnal vibes. A strange and interesting retelling of Hades and Persephone. Took a couple of turns I was not expecting.

A cute couple and lots of spice. Yes the pacing in this book/story is fast but I enjoyed that. No wasting time with long slogs through terrain. Even the romance moving fast was pretty enjoyable. I loved the silly cast of characters such as Fallon, Felix and Ambrose. As well as the tough and awesome Usha!

This book made me feel a lot of things and I love it for that. It was definitely uncomfortable to read the behavior of Doug and what he puts Annie through. However, it is a very poignant reminder of power imbalances in relationships.
