The stories in this collection are historically interesting, but there aren't many I would actually recommend someone to read.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 10%.
DNF. The opening chapters didn't click with me; it's not quite that I wasn't interested in the setting or the characters, but I wanted reassurance that the story would be going somewhere that would repay sticking with it, and I wasn't getting it. One of the storylines seemed like something I'd really like if it was handled well (which, given the rotating authorship, I wasn't confident of), one I was ambivalent about (and the prospect of shifting authorship didn't help), and one should have been interesting but fell flat because the author of the opening chapter was leaving key details to be filled in later by other hands and I wasn't interested enough to wait and see them filled in.
