lovely book. and interesting and complex story about family, but i found the prose a bit more dense than usual—a little harder to read.

Interesting and definitely gave me some food for thought. I usually find pop-science writing a big forced and a little eye-rolly. This book was not an exception.

Pretty enjoyable read, especially because the style is fairly unique. It got a little too preachy/cheesy for me in the middle, but the intrigue at the end made up for it.

This book wasn’t for me. It felt like a trauma dump with no substance. At every turn, there was some new tragic revelation, with no interesting insight about the characters, their lives, or the world we live in. I also found the psychology underlying the characters’ drastic actions simplistic and rather unbelievable.

a thought-provoking read. i felt the overwhelming sense that the author just despised all of her characters.

Interesting premise, but the reveal in the middle had to do too heavy of a lift to salvage a surprisingly uninteresting first half.
