American Rapture by CJ Leede

Thank you NetGalley and TOR for providing me an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
First, WOW this was incredible, thought provoking, shocking, touching, and unique take on an apocalyptic sci-fi horror. I devoured this in under 24-hours. It was an engrossing read that weaves together themes and compelling characters. The story's pacing keeps you hooked from start to finish, with enough twists and turns to keep you on your toes. The author's ability to blend different elements into a cohesive narrative is impressive, making this book a must-read for anyone who enjoys a mix of suspense and reflection on deeper societal issues. Definitely worth picking up if you're in the mood for something that challenges your perspective while entertaining you.

The Genius Zone: The Breakthrough Process to End Negative Thinking and Live in True Creativity by Gay Hendricks

This one is so much better than his first book, Big Leap. Some interesting and helpful tools and activities in this one to help you zero in on your negative thought patterns and hopefully free up some space for your creative thinking. Still feels a bit out of touch and advice for privileged well educated elites.
The Last Tale of the Flower Bride by Roshani Chokshi

I feel like this book was trying to be too many things at once, I was often incredibly confused. The writing was hauntingly beautiful and truly carried me through this bizarre and twisted tale.
The Big Leap: Conquer Your Hidden Fear and Take Life to the Next Level by Gay Hendricks

Would give this a negative one star if I could. This book was given to me and I am really curious if the person who gave it to me had ever read it. They probably just liked how smart they sounded when they asked me if I was operating in my “zone of genius.”There are some possibly (?) helpful corporate tips in here but overall it feels incredibly dated. The author is completely unaware of his incredibly privileged position; successful, Ivy League educated, white, and male. He discusses his many wealthy and celebrity clients but doesn’t mention any situations in which he uplifted a person from an impoverished background. This is a book for people who already have the tools and necessary privileges at their disposal but are likely too self-conscious to make a move. Ultimately, it is dated. If you’re a woman, skip this. Read The Mountain Is You instead.
