Reading this feels like reading poetry. How Sue Lynn Tan describes everything is just 100/10 spectacular beautiful amazing stunning. As one of chinese descent, it’s nice to finally read a fantasy book with familiar lores. From the tales to the food, the dresses and action scenes which I can easily picture in my head from years of watching asian dramas, my heart was filled with warmth the entire time.
Now onto the characters. Xingyin. Our 小星。At first so untouched by the realities of the cruel world out there, now a warrior, survivor, savior and more. Very in theme too that she was never shown what healthy love & relationships looks like so when she was thrown in a ‘love triangle’ she couldn’t made up her mind ever and felt unworthy.
Liwei. What can I say. 10/10 best of all of us.
Fuck people in power by the way.

yasha my beloved.......
what i was surprised of was. i thought her tribe would be homophobic. but no, there were a gay couple that the skyspear didn't mind of, accepted even. because they weren't marked, so it's not her business to dictate their relationship. i think the skyspear was just projecting because the previous matriach probably also saw her happy with someone else and chose another to be her mate. anyways. in another world.... they are happy.

I thought they changed how Jester had to leave from Lord Sharpe Balcony 'Incident' to her inviting his son (never mentioned before if my memory serves me) over to watch The Ruby of The Sea's show in the Lavish Chateau. But that was just a little something something to make Lord Sharpe hates her even more I guess.
Anyways. 10/10 for the little sapphire.

Struggled with this one. Stayed only because of my babies (Nikolai & Genya). Mal was insufferable. Malina is long gone. Idk her. Killed by the metrotrain.
As a middle child, this book did its job. The Grishaverse is amazing showstopping never been done before as always. It’s not the plot, it’s the characters. Bye.
