I loved that this book featured two fat leads. It is so rare to see a fat MMC in romance novels and we definitely need more of them. Beyond their bodies, I liked these characters together and appreciated the understandable struggles their pasts brought to their relationship.
Where I struggled with this book was plot, which has been an issue with both the second and third books. The problem is only the first book actually has a complete storyline. The other two are just slotted in around the first one. I’m know part of my struggle is I read Spoiler Alert so long ago, but I can’t help feeling like this is a cop-out when it comes to plot.

This was a bit of a disappointment. The main character is a Mary-Sue, and the writing style really flattens the narrative. There is an interesting story here, but it’s not told very well.

I love Kennedy Ryan, but I struggled a bit with this one. This is one story split into two books, which I didn’t realise until almost the end. It has pacing issues that I think wouldn’t have been such a problem if it was one book. I really liked the characters, but I felt like their backstory could have been condensed.

It took me an embarrassingly long time to connect the dots that this connects to the Dark Olympusseries. Once I figured it out, though, I loved that it bridged the gap, and we finally got to figure out what happened to Hercules. A very spicy, very fun tie-in.

Sylvia Moreno-Garcia writes lush epics that feel tight and fast-paced at the 300–400-page mark, but I think expecting her to pull that off in 40ish pages was too much. This felt too stripped down, lacking the immersive setting and memorable characters I associate with her writing.
