Thank you @Simon.Audio for the gifted alc.

This was just ok. It was a predictable but messy family drama.

The thing I love so much about historical fiction is when it teaches me something. This biofic of an unrecognized woman who played an important part in Civil Rights history was enlightening. I’ve always loved reading about FDR and especially Eleanor Roosevelt. So, to get this insight into the inner workings of their administration was fascinating. Shara has written this in an easy to read format where it feels as if Duffie is speaking directly to us. The ending felt a little rushed after the slower pace of the book but it was a good read overall.
Twice the Family: A Memoir of Love, Loss, and Sisterhood by Julie Ryan McGue

Memoir is one of my favorite genres and I absolutely love when I get so invested in the person that I cannot stop reading. This was one of those those memoirs. Julie told her story in such a captivating way and often left a cliffhanger at the end of each chapter so I just had to read one more… but it was never just one more. As a child of the 70s and 80s I loved all the details of that time period that made it feel nostalgic. This is the prequel to Julie’s first memoir TWICE A DAUGHTER, and I’ve already checked it out and can’t wait to read the rest of her story. Highly recommend!
