Mention of: rape, sexual assault, sexual violence, mutilation,
Okay so this book definitely still left me with quite a few questions...though I'm guessing if I read the spin off trilogy...those questions will probably get answered [I hope lol]
Overall I enjoyed this trilogy and how it shows that a single person can contain multitudes. You can be a terrified victim and a coldblooded vigilante at the same time...though trauma may break down some parts of us...it strengthens others or creates parts you never imagined you'd have...we all deal with trauma in such unique ways...

This starts out heavy and dark. I like that there's an element of romance but also true crime/mystery. I'll definitely be diving into book 2 soon to see what else is revealed about each of the characters.

This was a cute romance...I just wish there was more tension and resistance to falling for each other...it felt a little too close to insta love for me.

I kept pushing myself through this book hoping that I would end up rooting for and liking the main couple...but there's way too much back and forth. Will they won't they? And then random things/people thrown in seemingly to add layers but not really fully fleshing it out...
Originally I was going to still read book two, thinking it was a duology and the story could be brought together in a good way...but I realized it's a 4 book series focusing on this main couple and...I just don't have the energy now to push my way through that much. 😅

He knew she was meant to be his from the moment he first saw her...and he'll do whatever it takes to prove it to her. 🥰
I was a bit worried about how this story would play out since she was with her ex, aka his brother, for 3 years...but honestly the little she mentions about her past relationship...it doesn't really make sense that they were together so long.
Excited to see what relationships her two best friends get into and how many other series are connected so I can meet more and more couples from this universe. ^^

I've been meaning to read this book for ages...and it's just been sitting on my shelf waiting patiently. Welp last night I finally decided to crack it open...and ended up having to force myself to go to sleep and finish it today.
Juliette is such a broken girl who's been mistreated and ostracized for things that are out of her control. In a dystopian world where her powers could tip the balance in any direction...there are those out there that want her by their side.
This was such a fun read I can't wait to dive into the rest of the trilogy and see where it leads us!

Wow...just another book I should not have left sitting on my shelf, unread, for so long.
As a big fan of historical kdramas [though I don't watch them often since they will emotionally eviscerate you and leave you an empty shell...flashbacks to watching my first historical kdrama, Ja Myung Go, years ago ðŸ˜] I was excited to dive into this story as I heard that June Hur wrote really amazing historical Korean stories...and this one did not disappoint.
We get to follow a young woman who's a police indentured servant for the remainder of her life...someone who is deeply curious in a time when women, especially servants, aren't supposed to be quite so curious.
If you've read The Apothecary Diaries manga...it's giving a little Maomao but darker...
Honestly just a really great freaking read and I look forward to reading more of June Hur's historical Korean stories!
