Writing was great, audio narration was five stars. Story was good- though a little predictable. I liked the fmc - she was flawed and strong.

The only reason I could not give this 5 stars is because of the number of times “he/she hesitated” or “paused” or “seemed hesitant.” This is one of my biggest pet peeves and it’s more obvious when you listen to the audiobook . That said, what a fantastic, wondrous story. I get the hype. World building was phenomenal. Narration was very good.

I like the 2 pov better. Audiobook was great. Im sensing a pattern in her romance books, which will make others predictable- and Im totally OK with that. 😀

Slightly over the top. Really disliked the 2 FMC - but I do not like the portrayal of women who go a bit nuts because they were abandoned. Doesn’t sit right with me as an adopted child. Still, JM definitely knows how to spin a psychological thriller.

Not too bad considering I think this was her first book? Pretty cool to see the improvement in her writing from this one to Iron Flame.
