I had high hopes for this one and while it mostly delivered on the tension and whodunit, the main character seemed odd. I didn’t really like her and I didn’t really like following her. I do like Sarah Pekkanen so I will be reading more from her in the future, just this one to me was a bit of a miss.

Thank you NetGalley for a copy of this one.

I think when I finish the series, I will end up with this at the end of my ranking. I liked Landen and Ellie, but the pacing of this story was a bit odd to me. Being it was an interconnected standalone, I know a lot has to be explained from the previous two books, in case someone picked this up at random, but it felt like a bit too much of explaining of the past. Once we got to the current day storyline, it picked up and I enjoyed it.

I'm really enjoying Sugarland Creek and this solidified it for me. A friend recommended it to me and I really liked following Tripp and Magnolia. Tripp was such a perfect man who really stood by his word to Magnolia. The banter and silly moments were great, the suspense and twists were fun to watch unfold.

I have been on the hunt for a new romantic suspense author to follow, and Victoria Wilder fits the bill to a T. I really liked the story, the characters growth and relationship, and the suspense. I cannot wait to continue the series.

2? Maybe? I know there's controversy around the author and her credentials and education. I found this to be exhausting to listen to. I think she would be insufferable to have a conversation with.

Thanks Libro FM for a copy of this.
