Very well-written, but the story itself is so ambiguous it was confusing at the end. Which I didn’t hate. I think the narrator left it up to the readers to piece it all together. I like a blog that makes me think.

This is my second time reading this book, and I’m glad I read it again. It’s so well-written - I couldn’t put it down.

The first half was pretty entertaining but then it got a little too dark for my taste. I may revisit later since I paid for the audiobook, but it’s just not enjoyable anymore.

I wanted to love this. I was very excited to see a Palestinian MC, which is why I gave it some stars. But this was so boring. I made myself finish it because I was hoping it would get better. MC was weirdly tolerant of her family treating her poorly. Lara was the worst. I could not get into the love triangle thing because Hakeem was incredibly flat as a character. There was no tension, no buildup.

This is a short read that gives the reader a glimpse into the life of a young girl going through a period of immense change. I felt like I was transported back to my eleven year old self, the awkwardness and the anger and the grief that life brings. I would recommend.

A Haunting in Hialeah Gardens by Raul Palma

I had to return to the library so I didn’t get to finish it. I had about a third of the book left, but it was pretty good up until that point. Imaginative and interesting, with a complicated main character, which I enjoy. I’ll probably not check it out again to finish it anytime soon, but I would recommend it. I just have a short attention span and have already moved on.
