This was a little different than I expected! Definitely a slowwwwer burn than usual for a Neva Altaj book but I enjoyed the relationship building and pen pal aspect.

I loved Zahara, she went from the meek, reserved girl we met in her sister’s book to a force to be reckoned with, one of my favorite things in a FMC.

Massimo actually gave me Sergei vibes and I was not expecting that at all, I was fully thinking he would be more like Mikhail or Drago.

Overall I had a good time, as I usually do with this series.

Alright I have some feelings.

First I want you to know - if you’re holding off on reading this until book 3 is released I promise the cliffhanger is not that bad so you really can go ahead and get it done.

FYI: This book was significantly spicier than book one, grab yourself a fan, or a glass of milk, probably both.

There’s a lot going on in here. As the relationship dynamics shift and change there is a lot A LOT of push and pull, so prepare to yell at fictional characters in your head.. or in your friends’ DMs.

I’m very interested to see where book 3 takes us!

Okay the audiobook for this is insane - multicast and duet?! Spectacular, give me 14 of em right now.

This gave me the same vibes as The Bonds That Tie - but less magic… and more sword crossing 😏. So very dystopian, interesting relationship dynamics, and an FMC who is a g. I’m hooked.

If book 2 has a cliffy like this one did, I might cry.

Leave it to Kristen Granata to make me emotional while reading a lil fake dating holiday novella 🥹.

So Christina drunkenly decides to hire an escort to come home for the holidays with her, and when she shows up to the bar to meet him she’s telling the bartender her wild story when Jack overhears and decides to play the part. Lots of fun banter, a dash of tugging on the heartstrings, and a pinch of spice makes for a short & sweet holiday read - perfect for the season.
