One of the best books I've rated a 3. The writing itself is great! The book just does a sloppy job with the magic system and has a random section that becomes far too "Sword & Sorcery" compared to the rest. I plan to read King of Thorns in the future because of the clever writing, and hope some of these issues are gone in that book.

The story and journey are great, but I got distracted by the lack of explanation for some of the magic toward the end.

Starts with promise, but the second half is mostly a garbage fire...
