I felt that the first 250 pages of the book had too much talking and too little action. So much conversation could be left out, because at times I just thought it was unnecessary and boring. I had to plow through the long chapters and at first I thought I would not be able to finish this book. Fortunately… The last 200 pages were packed with action and emotion. Things I was looking for a lot earlier in the story. I would have loved if the topic of the Hermes society was elaborated a little bit more and the topic of the silver working was included a little bit more.

The topics in this book are important and open a lot of eyes to racism. I think a lot of people don’t notice the ‘subtle’ racism that is still very alive today. Maybe they can relate little bit to Letty in the sense that they try to understand and see what is going on, but you can never fully grasp the lengths of it because you simply don’t experience the racism yourself.
I had the hope that Letty would redeem herself, but the moment she shot Ramy and you knew it was with intent. There was no going back for her.

RFK did a great job at making you feel the frustrations/anger/sadness and the unjust that is done to the main characters. In the end, I think the book ended just the way it was supposed to end.
