Dark Side of the Moon by Sherrilyn Kenyon
3.0
I found that I enjoyed this one a lot more than I have the last couple of DH books I've read.
Dark Side of the Moon is Ravyn and Susan's story. I felt like I was able to see more of them in this one so it was easy to understand why they'd fall in love. Ravyn is a lot different from the other Dark-Hunters because he's not JUST a DH. Sherrilyn Kenyon used her usual formula of the DH having had a human mate betray them. There is a little bit of a twist with Ravyn's story though. I liked that he didn't seem as reluctant about getting involved with a woman... the way the Dark-Hunters usually react.
Susan is sassy and sarcastic and a little down on her luck when she meets him. He's drawn to her; with a deep need to protect Susan and make her life better. She's been betrayed by someone she thought she loved, her career is in shambles and she's lost the only family she had left.
When Susan and Ravyn are wrongfully accused of murdering two of her dear friends things begin to heat up. They race to prove her innocence before they are both thrown in jail, or worse.
The usual gang makes their appearances; although some of them not as often as in past books. You also get to meet new characters, which was refreshing for me since I'm not reading the Were-Hunter series and some of them pop in.
Overall I liked it and it ramped up my interest in continuing on with series. The epilogue really left me reeling and anticipating the next book.

Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert
3.0
I bounce back and forth between being fascinated by this book to being ready to be done with it. I guess it's hard for me to relate to a lot of the issues Elizabeth talks about, being that I'm not divorced nor have I ever been married.
That aside, I enjoyed the first 'book' the most. It was fun seeing Italy through the authors eyes. It's always been a dream destination of mine, even more so now.
I liked the funny anecdotes, word definitions and other bits and pieces. The writing was, at times captivating. I'm glad I took the time to read EPL and I'm looking forward to the movie.

The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner by Stephenie Meyer
4.0
I've had the book for a while but haven't had the chance to read it yet. I wanted to read something short so I decided to finally go for The Short Second Life...
It was interesting to see things from Bree's perspective- to see the things we didn't know about while reading Eclipse or seeing the movie. I felt like it was a great tie-in to the movie too and gave a new look at the Riley scenes.
I enjoyed the interaction with the Cullen's as well. Seeing Bree "stand up" for herself, even though she knew she was doomed. The way she went about "telling" Edward what she knew and had discovered.
I did feel bad for her (and Diego), knowing that everything that happened to her was out of her hands. Being turned without her consent; having to stay somewhere she didn't feel safe because she believed the lies Riley told the Newborns.
Loved that Bree gave Jane "the finger" so to speak without Jane even realizing what she was doing.
Reading this makes me want to go back and read Eclipse again, to see if I pick up on things I hadn't noticed before. I'm sure I'll look at everyone in a whole new light.
I'd like to know where Fred is now too. Hmm.
Overall, I enjoyed it and I'm happy that I had the chance to finally read it.
