This one was so close to being a 5 star. I absolutely loved these characters, the relationships, romance, and atmosphere. The plot was good, but not great. There was just something about the multiple plot points and how they wound together that wasn't perfect to me. Other than that, I had a great time and am very much looking forward to continuing on in the series.

This was like a warm hug of a book. I did think the last 100 pages had just a little too much going on, and it felt a little rushed. I had a great time though, and I look forward to more from the author.

Such good writing once again. Still think it's crazy that this author wrote this book in the 90s. While it's parallel is the extreme. It is very spooky to think about the world in any version that she came up with and similarities to today's world.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 39%.
The writing itself is good. I unfortunately do not care at all about the story itself. Especially not to keep reading.

I want to start off by saying I think Katherine Arden is an amazing writer, and the writing itself was very well done. Along with the research that the author did to make it accurate alongside the paranormal elements. I don't really have anything negative to say at all about this book. I think the ugliness of the topic of this war was just heartbreaking, and I didn't have a good time. Now I know that's not a must for a good book. It just affected my reading experience. I did like the ending, and I really want to read more from the author.

I absolutely ate this book up! Misery was such a fun character that I loved from the very beginning. The characters, plot, humor, chemistry and pretty much everything I thought was just a great time.
