This book was so cool — I loved that it was part memoir, part sports book, part documentary... it was all around so fun to read!

It is so upsetting that Japanese Internment Camps are so frequently overlooked and not taught in our history classes. This book reminded me so much of the March series, and felt just as heartbreakingly important to read and understand and know.

Cute book but a little too long for me. I liked the ending.

The show is better and the writing is poor but it was a QUICK read and very engaging. I pictured the characters (and show names) as I read and that was also helpful — it was like watching the first episode or two of the show. I enjoyed it!

Excellent story!! I don’t think I would have ever read a book like this without the show first but it was very well written and easy to follow, even with all the chess jargon.
