I preferred the first book because it felt like it had a more cohesive plot. A lot of moments felt episodic and slow. The last half really made this book. It was exciting, emotional, sweet, and funny.

This was well written in a way that was easy to follow and easy to picture. It was dramatic and quite a page turner, but the ending was a little predictable so by the time the climax happened, it was underwhelming.
On one hand, Sylvie could get a little annoying by how self-absorbed she is, but on the other, I didn’t like that she’s essentially being punished for being ambitious. Also Tess was a terrible friend and person in general and while she’s ill, I hated that she’s portrayed as just a victim in the end. Who the hell lies about being pregnant and fakes a miscarriage?
