Secret Obsession by S. Massery

I really loved Miles and Willow's story. I don't want to say Miles had fewer red flags than the other guys, but... he was somehow sweeter? While also still being completely deranged...

ALL. THE. STARS. Seriously, I can't gush enough about this series. If you know me and I haven't recommended it to you yet, well... then I guess you don't really know me, because I'm SURE I've recommended it multiple times to every single person I've ever met.
This book was perfection. There were so many answers, so many more questions... but never once did it feel like too much or not enough. (Until it ended and I wanted more, of course...) The characters are growing closer, we're learning more about Ironside and the world in general... andf*cking. Braun. Carter.
Oh, and if you've been waiting on spice... now is your moment. 🥵

Mafia + Hockey + RH = SAY LESS... I think I may have found my new favorite C.R. Jane book (although, I don't know if anyone can truly take over Lincoln's spot...).
The red flags are back in this one... so if you don't like your men morally grey and looking like a matador, just don't read it because there is not a green flag in sight. BUT... I'm here for every second of it. *** Please do yourself and the authors a favor and look at content warnings before you read it if you aren't sure. Reading a book without looking at content warnings and then giving it a bad review because you don't like the red flags is just irresponsible reader behavior... don't be that reader. ***
To be fair, the only thing that bothered me wasthat 5 year gap before she "discovered" the ice skating arena again... and that fact that it seemed a little unlikely she would have lived there for so long and had never been by it once in that 5 years, but it was close enough to her friends house to pass on a walk? I don't know... maybe if it was only a year later or something. But it really wasn't enough to detract from my love of the characters and the overall story. I can't wait for the rest of the duet!
Final thoughts: If you read the prequel chapter at the end of the book and wonder why it's at the end... I do think I would have preferred that reading order. I read the prequel as a teaser from the FB group first, before the book was out. While it didn't take away from the story, I did go back and read it after and realized there were some things I had missed (connections) while reading the story because they didn't seem as important when I just read the prequel.

Jane's books are perfect for rereading, because every time you do, you find something you missed before. I will continue to revisit this series over and over again.

If i could give this series 10 stars, I would. I am absolutely in love with Ironside, Isobel, and all of the alphas. This book was a perfect continuation of the first, with none of the second book syndrome in sight. There was enough character and plot development to keep it moving forward at a nice pace, while also allowing for enough questions that I still have no idea what's going on.

I am so thoroughly disappointed that more people won't be able to read this one. This was an amazing why-choose holiday snowed-in romance. It was the perfect read for a winter day!
