This was a cute introduction to Victoria “Tori” Spring story, I loved the illustrations and the different povs, but I didn’t enjoy the overly simplified writing style, it made the book almost boring.

I still can’t believe how I came across this series. I was casually browsing books one day when I saw the box set and decided randomly to purchase the entire set. I knew very little about what the books were about.

Fast forward to now finishing the last book, crying my eyes out over fictional characters. The characters, the storytelling, and the depth of emotions all resonated with me on an incredibly deep level.

I can officially say that this series has made it to my Top 2 favorite series of all time (The Maze Runner being my Top 1). It’s incredible how a spontaneous decision led to something so impactful, I am so glad that I gave it a chance. This series will remain with me for years to come.

“But I have come to think that love is what makes a person human, as well as what makes a monster.”

While the pace was kind of slow at times, the ending truly broke my heart and caught me completely off guard.

This would have been perfect if:
• The kids were a bit older (10-12 year olds).
• The transition between characters was smoother and more clear.
• The characters were fewer and more different and unique.
