As someone who is in the publishing industry, I enjoyed the trope of having one of the main characters as a workaholic editor. The unfolding story of the grandmother’s past, told from jumps backward and forward through time was interesting.

Got my copy on Saturday delivered fresh from Amazon, finished reading it in under 24 cumulative hours. Like the rest, a fast, fun, read, but I must say I'm a bit disappointed in Rowling's ending for this book (not the series, which in reality could end no other way). I think she is a talented writer, but by the conclusion of this book, I felt she simply ran out of steam and grabbed the more "Hollywood" of endings. But, I still enjoyed it immensely, and look forward to starting the entire series again with a fresh eye.

An entertaining read. This was one of my book club selections, picked because it was on the 3-for-2 table at Borders. But, it still was amusing. Some of those in my book group found the author's writing style annoying, but again, I was able to overlook that and just enjoy a quick read of a funny book with a little bit of thinly-veiled mystery thrown in.

This was another book club selection, which I must admit, captured me despite the fact that I wasn't sure where it was going. I liked how the author provided enough detail for me to imagine the world of the characters, and I was fully able to step into that world while I was reading.
The Amazing Adventures of Dietgirl by Shauna Reid

What great fun. Yes, that's a strange comment to make on a book that is a chronicle of one woman's struggle to lose an amazing amount of weight, but it's true. Shauna's got a very colloquial voice, and you find yourself cheering for her and crying with her throughout. I even saw bits of my own neuroses in here, and learned more about how I view weight loss and what it means to find balance and happiness at all stages in life. Run to Amazon.ca to get it (it's currently not on the shelves in the US)!
