15 year old me is FROTHING over this. 25 year old me is also frothing over this but in a more chilled and dignified way.

I don't think me and short stories/novella mesh very well tbh.
This book felt like a race to the finish and I'm not sure it was in a good way. We meet the villain pretty quickly and within pages Zinnia and her are already kind of in love? I'm all for enemies to lovers but it felt like we went from the first meeting to the first kiss in an instant. I don't think I've seen insta-love happen this fast and that's saying something.
There was good character development of the villain but Zinnia still had the same, or similar, attitude the whole way through. I liked the idea of it but I don't know that it was as well executed as it could have been.

I'm so glad I listened to this, I had SUCH a good time and if I'd been reading it instead I think I would have struggled a bit (there is a lot of technical jargon).
This book genuinely made me laugh out loud multiple times and had me on the edge of my seat despite having seen the movie and knowing how it ends. While it does get very technical at times, I never felt like the book was too smart for me and I was always able to keep up (even if it was barely).
The characters are all so different and unique and real, each with their own set of challenges and problems which all felt very real considering the premise of the book. Mark is hilarious, even when facing imminent death but also able to get serous and focused, which was paced out very well.
The pacing was great, the writing style was fun, the premise is very well developed and I'd assume researched to a point where it felt like this could be a real scenario. Highly recommend.

I honestly really struggled with this one. I think I got lost at the start and never quite found my footing again. I also focused too much of the angel thing and couldn't figure out how literal or metaphorical it was. I think if I got over this I would have rated it a lot higher.
One of the most diverse books I've ever read. The writing was amazing, the gore was fantastic, the characters all felt real for the circumstances they were in. Highly recommend if you are able to read some pretty gnarly body mutilation and death.
