Over 200 pages, I feel like I should care about what’s going on or at least be interested in the characters and sadly that’s not where I’m at. There’s just an overwhelming amount of world building that the plot is lost.

This was a cute holiday special-type read bringing us back into the ACOTAR world, without the classic action and crazy cliffhangers that SJM's books typically have. I really enjoy this type of story getting to see how characters we love are just living and moving forward from big events that have happened. I LOVE that we got so many perspectives in this and it felt like it gave a better picture of the overall events taking place in this world.

I just don't think Allison Saft is the author for me. I was really excited by the idea of this book and there were definitely elements that I enjoyed (esp. the murder mystery!). It lost me though on two big things: 1. I didn't like the main character who was beyond frustrating to be stuck in her thoughts for the whole story; and 2. the romance felt so forced that I wasn't rooting for it by the end. I think this will probably be my last venture into Allison Saft's work.

I just don’t think I jive well with fiction that comes across as borderline nonfiction. Definitely a clever premise; but not one for me.
