Lost 0.75 for going way out there on aliens and faeries, but his work on cave paintings and shamanic trance is mind blowing. I’m very pro-science but have seen “supernatural” forms with my own eyes. As a person living with a chronic illness that used to be labeled “yuppie flu” I’ve seen firsthand how ego and science intersect. Hancock is fantastic at cutting through egoistic bullshit, bickering between academics, and colonial attitudes to traditional wisdom. Overall a very satisfying read, one of my best of the year.
