dark hopeful reflective slow-paced
I love a dark, addiction-to-ultra-endurance sport tale of transformation but Thomson offers so much more than just tales self-inflicted abuse, he writes beautifully and thoughtfully as both a writer and a psychologist who works with patients now.
Raw Concrete: The Beauty of Brutalism by Barnabas Calder

informative reflective medium-paced
Calder's love of the Brutalism comes through this gem of a history of the architecture movement in the United Kingdom. Rather than a linear timeline we get to explore the history through buildings Calder has personal experience with. The links to higher resolution photos online allows the book to get away with the b+w images in the text.
