This was different from some of my favorite Michael Crichton books (Prey, Sphere, Andromeda Strain, etc) and I think that may be why I didn’t find it as enjoyable. It lacked the amount of world building that I can usually expect. To be fair, it’s a mystery/thriller, not a sci-fi.
However, it did contain elements that made me pause and consider a scenario we do not often encounter in today’s America. It left me with an opportunity to examine my personal biases.
It was a quick one day read.
