I really enjoyed this book. From the very beginning, I was hit with a contradiction that kept me trying to figure out the missing piece until the end. This book is suspenseful and keeps you locked in, waiting for the truth to come to light. I love the way it explores the truth and how it can be manipulated, as well as the concept of time and how it doesn't stop, no matter what the circumstance. I was really engaged throughout and surprised by the twist at the end. I even shed a few tears. I would definitely recommend.
This wasn't too bad. The suspense is slow, but still worth the read. I somewhat saw the twist coming, at the end, which is why I only gave 3.5 ⭐️ instead of 4.
This is a tough book to read and stomach. The details and plot are really intense (I would highly suggest reading the trigger warnings before starting). It is a book that makes you think for a while after reading. How do you continue on living after experiencing something so horrifying? It also makes you consider the psychology of the characters. Stockholm Syndrome is a hard issue to come to terms with, especially when it's a child. It's easy to hate one of the FMCs, but when you think about her situation, it's more complex. It really does leave you questioning what you'd do and how far you'd go to survive. How are children in these situations different? The book isn't really a psychological thriller, but more of a suspense and emotional thriller. The range of emotions are a rollercoaster of disgust, sadness, hope, anger, and even hatred. However, I was able to guess the ending, which is why I'm only giving 3.5⭐️. Also, I'd suggest reading yourself; if you listen on audiobook, one of the narrators sounds like a robot and was somewhat annoying, but I was able to deal with it.
I liked this sequel more than the 1st. The only issue I had was the ending. It leaves a little for interpretation and was slightly rushed, but overall, a good, creepy horror book. I would recommend.
This book had me locked in from the beginning! I experienced so many emotions while reading this book: anger, sadness, hope, love, embarassment, and even she'd a few tears. It's books like these that move you and make you stop to truly think afterward. What if my life were different? What if I was in the wrong place at the wrong time? How much I love my family and my children, and what lengths would I go to to protect them. Is our Justice System broken? How do the actions of others trigger traumatic responses? And for that, I give this book a glowing 5⭐️ recommendation. There are also twists and turns along the way that you never expect, yet they seem so fitting for the title, in hindsight.
This book went from slow to whoa, fast. Nothing like I was expecting. Lots of twists and turns. Everytime thought I knew what was going on, I was wrong.
I wondered throughout the entire book who could be behind what was happening, and I still had it wrong in the end! Another twisty thriller from Freida!
This book was somewhat plain. There was a lovestory, but not much mystery/thriller aspect; it was an after thought. The ending is very rushed and not very dramatic. Overall, and okay read.
