josh malerman is so skilled at creating unease and tension. readers looking for straight-up horror should not expect that from this novella. it's essentially a metaphor for young/first love and i thought it was beautifully (and creepily) executed.

this series is only reaffirming my love for magnus - easily the best character in the entire shadowhunter universe. also loved seeing an alec pov and seeing alec from magnus's pov. i love them sm :')

i don't think we needed a third book, but it wasn't too bad overall. in fact it felt very on-the-nose regarding the political climate here in the u.s., which is pretty sad.
