An awesome Junji Ito anthology! This has Tomie's first story, flying giant heads, a centipede-like thing attached to a man's head that's actually made of the heads of every ancestor who came before him, humans turned into puppets, humans growing holes in their skin, dreams that get longer and longer, and more. Great nightmare fuel, I loved it.

I can’t do this anymore. I will watch the movie because I was going to anyway after I finished the book, but there’s no way I’m giving the book more of my time. It’s so boring and life’s too short to talk myself into pretending that it’s not in order to finish it.

Mmm, no... Once again, I was impressed by the creativity but didn't love the execution, so I didn't enjoy most of these stories. I only loved the first one about the weeping women, that's it. This could be my least favorite Junji Ito anthology so far.

The visuals are crazyyyyyy!!! I can't say this enough: this man comes up with the most absurd, horrific shit. That said, this story really lacks in almost everything else. Nothing made sense, so Junji Ito didn't even try to sci-fi lmao, and Remina is a very passive character with virtually no personality. Things are just absurd and, yes, that's his style, but also, I need the writing to be good when it's a single narrative as opposed to short story collections, which are allowed to be a mixed bag.

Not gonna lie, this got a bit old after the second story cause after the first two stories, you kind of know how things are going to end when these two freaks show up lol. But again, Junji Ito may not be the best writer, but his creativity is incredible. He comes up with crazy unique premises and even if he doesn't always execute them well, that and the artwork is always worth checking out.

This was okay. It's quite a unique premise, but there's a lot of nonsense going on. I think there could have been a more effective version of the story that made more sense or at least got to the conclusion in a more impactful way. In other words, I don't think this version lives up to the potential of the premise, but it's still signature Junji Ito absurd horror with a pinch of sci-fi and that was still fun. The gore was great as always, true nightmare fuel!

I have missed Chainsaw Man SO MUCH. It's been painful to wait for the volumes to be available in English and on Libby.
This one was so much fun! The art is incredible, as always, and the characters are so compelling and also silly.I love Asa, she's grown on me so much, and Denji being Denji is always such a... pleasure, lmao.
I love the way he can have these empathetic, insightful moments, and then say something so out of place. Case in point, when he's relating to Asa about being lonely and life being shitty, something he's very familiar with:
"-'You know life isn't all bad... But day in and day out, all you can remember is the bad stuff... and the disasters keep pilin' up like a hamburger made of crap, right?'
-'How did you get over that, Chainsaw Man?'
-'I haven't! I'm not over it! Only... I've got something to live for! Something I look forward to so much that I'm willing to eat that crapburger!'
-'What's that?'
-'I wanna have sex!! Sex!'"
I mean... HAHAHAHAHA. It's impossible not to like this guy.
The humor almost always hits for me in this manga and the comedic timing of things is very well done.

I feel so bad for Mimi, that poor girl can't catch a break lmao. The stories were just okay, though.
