The Assassin and the Healer by Sarah J. Maas

This novella gave me more of a look into who Celaena is and how she thinks. Yrene is the total opposite of her and she still saw herself in her. I love how this tied into the first novella with the Pirate Lord, and I really hope Yrene makes an appearance in the series later on.

This novella kind of bored me in the beginning as it was a slower one, but the ending was amazing. The Masters training confused me until the ending, and the whole Ansel encounter further spoke into who Celaena is as a person.

Wow. I’m truly obsessed with Celaena and Sam. Forget everything I’ve ever said about any character ever, if I don’t find myself a Sam Cortlan, I don’t want him. I truly felt the betrayal from Celaena about the whole situation, and how she slowly realized who the true villains in her story were.

Wow. Just wow. This one was my favorite of the novellas, the plot twists kept me on the edge of my seat. I didn’t see a lot of it coming, which kept me very into it. The complexity of Arobynn and Celaenas relationship was really highlighted here, and I really enjoyed how it was portrayed.

This is the perfect prequel to ease into the series in my opinion. I was never fully invested in the idea of the series by how it sounded in book 1 but reading the prequel has me aching for more. The complexity of all the characters and how they’re portrayed is so beautifully written. I can’t wait to continue this series

I always forget how phenomenal this writing is until I come back to re-read it. The book will always be superior to the movie in my opinion, there’s just so many details that make everything tie together perfectly for me. It’s such a nostalgic read for me as these were the books that truly got me into reading. 10/10 always
Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

Just like the first book I much prefer the book to the movie! The relationship depth she has with Peeta, Haymitch, Finnick, and even Johanna is so complex and amazingly written. The way you can feel her unravel things in her own way that even when you know what happens you get lost in her thought process. All time favorite forever.
