Tulipomania: The Story of the World's Most Coveted Flower & the Extraordinary Passions It Aroused by Mike Dash
5.0
I love the insane history of the Tulpomania in 17th century Holland.
I reread this book this year as I wanted to see if there where any real parallels with the Bitcoin craze nowadays. All the media tout that there is, but I found very little comparison.
Although in both cases people are blinded by greed and easy money, the circumstances and severity seems to be a lot different. Back then, the people didn't understand markets and they went all in. Right now, I believe most people understand that Crypto is super risky and understand that they should be a bit careful.

De kleine geschiedenis van Utrecht voor dummies by René de Kam

Nice short overview of the history of Utrecht.
It's fun to read about what happened in your city over the course of 2000 years.
I would have loved some more detail about the different political turns in the medieval time and about less on the more recent affairs of the 20th century

The Sober Entrepreneur: Change Your Family Tree by Peter Shankman, Russ Perry
5.0
Loved the raw honesty that Russ displays in this book, combined with a framework for how to get your life into shape after you quite drinking. It's super interesting to get a glimpse in the personal life and motivations of one of the entrepreneurs I most admire and respect.
I stopped drinking a year or 2 ago, because I wanted to be playing my A-game every day and I noticed that days after I drank alcohol I was less productive and felt less great. Russ describes this same effects but took it to another level by using the momentum of not drinking to transform his life both professionally, physically and emotionally. It's amazing what you can accomplish when you set your mind it.

Great, inspiring story of a guy who tried to discover the truth behind an old story his grandfather told him.
New York 2140 by Kim Stanley Robinson

The book starts of a bit slow but is still a great read.
The author manages to paint a cool picture of what he thinks the world would look like and how society will function after sea levels rise 50ft and New York becomes flooded.
