Carmilla by J. Sheridan Le Fanu

i somehow thought there would be more to a classic sapphic vampire book written by a man. the story was engaging, i read it in basically one sitting, but it was also a bit boring. it just fell flat for me i suppose.
Carmilla and Laura by S.D. Simper

so this is was basically what i thought Carmilla was orginally going to be, minus the modern take at the beginning and end. this was exactly how i thought the story wouldve been written lol

Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation: Mo Dao Zu Shi (Novel) Vol. 5 by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu

so i genuinely enjoyed the series but im so disappointed in the ending. it seemed far too rushed compared to the rest if the series and even the extra chapters. like the reveal at the end seemed glossed over and the confession seemed lacking, especially given the history if lan and wei. it seemed like they wanted to skip ahead to the smut and it’s disappointing tbh. i did however enjoy a few of the extra chapters that expanded on past events and that expanded on the juniors growth as cultivators. i thought that was really fun and i really enjoyed it. overall i really enjoyed the series even if the end seemed rushed lol
Kiss Her Once for Me by Alison Cochrun

it definitely reminds me of a hallmark movie. it has the classic characters you get invested in but that are also annoying and questioning why they would make that choice over the obvious one. it was definitely not the worst ive read but also not my favorite

Last Night at the Telegraph Club by Malinda Lo

i honestly really enjoyed this book. it was slow and i felt that kath and lily’s family chapters could have expanded/connected better but overall i enjoyed seeing a glimpse of what life was like for lesbians in san Francisco and chinatown in the 1950s. its an aspect of history i never really thought about and it was really cool
