Not everything in this book made sense or added up, but I had an absolute blast reading this atmospheric adventure, and don't even get me started on that ending! I loved Inez and Whit together and cannot wait to see where the story goes.

A decently engaging series with consistent quality throughout. The only aspects not to my taste was the lack of on-page development of some vital aspects to the story, such as the romance between Citra and Rowan. Since we don't see their feelings developing, the whole thing feels incredibly forced. The author repeats this with
Greyson and Purity
and
Rand and Tyger
, and then finally gets it right with
Greyson and Jerico

As for Rand, her whole
change of heart
wasn't all that believable to me. She was a completely different person in the first book, and since her feelings for
Tyger
felt nonsensical (as we do not see them developing), it was hard to believe that she'd change because of what she did to him.

But overall a good read and I'm glad I decided to pick up the series.

The first part is absolute ass, so I'm not surprised so many people dnf-d before they got to the good part(s). The dialogue in part I was absolutely horrendous and made the characters seem insufferable. I didn't get their constant arguments and fights, after having known each other for so little time. I wasn't a fan of the insta-infatuation and wouldn've liked them to gradually get to know each other. After Poppy was rid of Roisin (so from part II onwards), I actually started to like her and the story. The found family was amazing, and without Roisin dragging everyone down with her martyr attitude, I enjoyed the book much more.
