I really loved Ruth Ozeki‘s other books, but I couldn't really get into this one. The beginning was nice but the plot kind of stalls for long and it got a bit boring. As a scientist, i didn‘t really love the one sided explanations of GMOs, but whatever. I couldn‘t stand most of the characters, except Cass and I didn‘t feel like Yumi was a good protagonist for this story. I thought sometimes the male characters were written a bit weird.

How to Kill Your Family by Bella Mackie

I really liked the narration of this audiobook, which is also they reason why I kept going on for so long. But the story didn‘t really interest me. The protagonist was just too much „not-like-other-girls“, that I wasn‘t sure if it was a joke or not.

I liked the first book of the series but this one didn‘t really seem to pick up and I kind of lost my interest. What annoyed me was the amount of exposure. Characters kept telling the reader what happened in the first book, which felt very unnecessary and unnatural.

I really liked the first half of this book, however I didn‘t enjoy the second half as much.
