Her, Him & I: Poems by Christian Weissmann

End bi erasure!
Her Him and I by Christian Weissman is a beautiful debut collection of poetry. Weissman's verses challenge hegemonic masculine narratives and captures the queer experience of bisexual men (one that is often omitted from discussion). However, I did find it to be quite repetitive and reminiscent of Rupi Kaur style poetry.

Queer as Folklore: The Hidden Queer History of Myths and Monsters by Sacha Coward

Queer as Folklore is the book I wish I had when I did my folklore and oral traditions module two years ago in university. It is informative, diverse and recognises colonial impact on oral tradition. This is not a read you can whip through: you need to sit with it, be patient and allow the stories to be told.

definitely some introspective, original prose and I quite enjoyed the solarpunk vs cyberpunk aesthetics. however, this would have been improved by either being a series of short stories or novellas.

Daisy Miller and The Turn of the Screw by Henry James
slow-paced

Overall, this was mid. I enjoyed daisy miller and how she doesn’t conform to society as well as seeing her from Winterborne’s perspective. Raised an eyebrow a few times at her dying from ‘Roman disease’ when her Italian companion is described in terms of his ‘race’ and otherness.
The Turn of the Screw was a bit of a word vomit. Maybe I’ll try reading this again after watching the Netflix show but probably not because there are other things I want to read.

this was fine. if you want queer horror, I would recommend parallel hells by leon craig and things we say in the dark by kirsty logan instead.
