Audiobook version: The rating would have been 3 to 4 had there been a different narrator.
Keep to the written word on this one. This book is several origin stories of Geralt of Rivia, AKA The Witcher.

I enjoyed it, but it was a bit thin on plot, especially at about 80% onward. It did have a nice little twist at the very end.

Not my kind of mystery but others may enjoy it more.

A good action/thriller but it does wane at times. The main character, John Corey, was just a bit too surly and arrogant for me to truly enjoy the story. But he did make me laugh many times, with his wisecracks and one-liners.
Audiobook narration: ****-
A good job from a narrator I've listened to before and enjoy.

When I saw the movie years ago I really enjoyed it. From the way that it ended, it seemed like there would be much more story to tell. Well there was, and I discovered this book series. I enjoyed this book, but it was a bit more juvenile than what I remember of the movie. I'm going to continue on what's the next book in the series, if that tells one anything.
Audiobook narration: ****-
A good job. I only get 5 stars to narrators of supreme talent.

One of my favorites in the Ranger's Apprentice series!

The first third of the book was a little slow, but then it picked up from there and I like this one a little better than the first book in the series. The audiobook version has one issue and that is the sound engineer turned the bass frequencies up to much, so on a good sound system it's far too bassy.

Audiobook version:
This is was my second attempt read this book, but I did not like the method of narration, and I could not get into the subject matter. It just didn't grab me and make me want to listen to more. The print version may be better, but I'm not attempting a third time.
