To be honest I didn't enjoy this as much as I though I would. It probably didn't help that I was trying to read this in the middle of a reading slump, so reading it kinda dragged out for a couple of months. I liked the beginning of the book because it felt like the whole brothers best friend trope was more promising, but Alex was just too brooding and intense (I get that was because of his past but idk). Maybe I might have enjoyed the book more if I hadn't taken months to read it.

I was really into the idea of the book at the beginning but as the story went on I wasn't really that into it. It wasnt badly written it was more the characters and plot that I wasnt into.  Possible spoilers below??
I really did not find Jack to be a likeable character in my opinion. The romance between Jack and Laurie did not really interest me that much and I felt like they barely interacted at all. Their relationship would have been more believable if they had a longer past history together rather than the 10 seconds that they knew each other from locking eyes at the bus stop.

I cried for the last 30 pages of the book. Other than that I really loved it.
