I just, couldn't get into this book! I wish I could have because the concept seemed so nice, but I think I'm just not in the right headspace for this book at this moment.

I'm so overwhelmed by the all the books I "have" to read right now, I'm not reading some of these right now.

I wanted to smack every single man in her life except her dad,but that's entirely because he's mentioned like 3 times.

It took me a while to get into this book - I think because the characters and the world needed to be set up and that felt slow to me. However, I am really excited to read the ending of this duology and I can't wait to find out what happens! I loved the characters, world setting, and the magic system, which all felt unique and really engaging. 4.5/5

This book was a delight to read! Dealing with uncomfortable emotions from high-school, floundering and figuring out what you want to do with life, and reconnecting with your past were all themes of this book and as someone close to Darby's age and also queer, this book was both a rehashing of my high school days and also a breath of fresh air. I really enjoyed reading this! 4.5/5
