“Some things never change, even when everything has.”

Special thanks to the author & @stmartinspress for my gifted copy. This is my 2nd book by Tarah and again she did not disappoint. She definitely has a special gift when it comes to writing the fake dating/second chance/friends-to-lovers/forced proximity trope. In this instance it was a marriage of convenience between two people who had feelings for each other in the past yet blame one another for their broken hearts. LaRynn and Deacon were loveable characters more so Deacon but LaRynn grew on me.

I found it quite funny the more they argued the deeper they fell back in love with each other. There were many instances where the playful banter turned into heated arguments. But I liked how they’d always circle back and discuss their differences. And even with the back and forth there was a lot of chemistry between the two especially when things got spicy. Overall, it was a cute and fun book can’t wait to read more of her books.

I read this looking for Christmas vibes which it didn’t give but it mentioned Christmas lol. If anything the whole story was toxic and let’s be for real Aspen was an airhead and a dummy for even attempting to give Lamont another chance. Should’ve been told him to go play house with his babymama since he care so much about what she think. Then Lil Ty Ty from the Eastside . . . he was a baller and didn’t hesitate to blow a bag on my girl. Buuuuuuut the sex and him stopping to wash his hands . . . I just couldn’t deal lmao I laughed so hard at that. Overall, no Christmas vibes just toxic energy but it was a cool read.

This was a cozy light-hearted small town romance filled with witty banter, lots of magic, a disastrous spell, an arranged marriage and two people who hate each other falling in love. I didn’t really have any high expectations for this one kind of read it because I liked the cover. It turned out to be an okay book but isn’t  something I would want to read again or more of. The only thing I enjoyed was Lucinda and Benedict experiencing the magic swap and scrabbling to fix the situation before it was discovered by the coven. That small mishap pretty much shaped the story and brought the MC’s closer together. The world-building was very detailed and vivid which added to the atmosphere the author was trying to create. Overall, the book was okay probably won’t be reading the next book in the series though.

Special thanks to the author & #Montlake @amazonpublishing for my gifted copy‼️

How do you build the courage and confidence to date again after losing your soulmate? When Davina lost her husband she didn’t know how she’d go on with life. With her husband’s presence missing yet still filling every inch of their home she began to drown herself in work. When she lands a new endorsement deal with NBA star Deke Bishop he’ll end up showing her he can score more than a few baskets.

This is probably the 2nd or 3rd sports romance I’ve ever read and omg it was so good because what sports lol. Shanora truly delivered with this book it was everything I wanted it to be and more. From the romance, the fling that turned into a thing, Davina finding love after loss, watching our MC’s fall in love, their vulnerability, Deke being everything Davina needed, the sex 🥵 and their chemistry it was all so perfect. We did get a little drama cause Lewis mother and Deke’s ex both tried it‼️ But I loved pretty much all of the characters especially their siblings.

Overall, the book was amazing trust me read it. Check the trigger warnings before reading though the author touched on some heavy themes involving grief, depression, losing a spouse to cancer, childhood abuse/trauma, suicide, and neglect.

A slow-burn that was worth every minute‼️ I don’t typically do gothic fiction just because the last few I’ve read left me like WTF and not in a good way . .  (cough, cough) House of Cotton. But this book was nothing short of amazing to me. It’s a slow-paced horror where the suspense continues to build with each chapter.

Now was this book scary not at all but the Dechon’s oh they were horror-ible people with a past darker than their skin tone. The self-hate ran so deep they’d do anything in their power to “keep it in the family.” Do with that what you will . . .

Torn between the terrors (ghosts) in Chicago and a little curiosity Jemma accepts the offer to work for the Dechon family. But her new role would become both a gift and a curse. I kept thinking girl you should’ve stayed at home.

This book was so crazy yet so good. The Dechon’s were a little odd like the Addams family but with meaner spirts. They were a special kind of people is all I can say.

What really got me were the secrets and boy they had a lot of them. But also Jemma’s ability to see and communicate with spirits, breaking the family curse, the housemaid . . . the lady in the woods . . . the trapped souls . . . the baby corpse. . . confinement to the house . . . and being a descendant of murderers just plot twist after plot twist.

Overall, the book was great the author explored some heavy themes in this one. If slow-burn southern gothic horror is your thing you’ll enjoy this book.

Special thanks to the author & @avonbooks for my gifted copy‼️ I’ve only read book 1 in the series which is still my favorite. Book 3 was cool and since I haven’t read the previous one I can say this can be read as a standalone didn’t seem like I was missing out on anything. But we follow another member of the Penhallow family this time it involves time travel which I did like. I also enjoyed how madly in love Bowen and Tamsyn were it was giving enemies-to-lovers initially and took them getting lost in the past trying to save Bowen’s existence for them to finally act on it. The sex scenes hated them all the author was just cocking it up lol. Overall, this was an okay read I’ll need to read book 2 to judge the entire series as a whole.

Special thanks to the author & @stmartinspress for my gifted copy‼️ I still haven’t read book 1 however I plan to spend the block soon on that one but book 2 can obviously be read as a standalone it was very cute a little cheesy in some ways the sex scenes were a little spicy but overall I loved this. The pacing was a little up and down but the character development was superb I’m still iffy on August being an ex-football player turned baker but I loved him and Sloane together.

I really enjoyed this one it was so sweet and to the point and gave exactly what I was looking for in a Christmas romance. Giselle was a matchmaker who couldn’t seem to find the perfect match for herself. On the verge of spending the holidays alone her best friend sets her up with a rival matchmaker.

The blind dates took me out especially the movie date and his babymama. But one failed date after another lead Giselle right into Chaquille’s arms and the rest was holiday magic. When he told Giselle it was okay if she loved him oh the butterflies that gave me!!! This was my first Christmas read of the month and I was not disappointed. If you’re looking to get in another Christmas read before the month ends you found it. It was heartwarming and will definitely make you laugh.

Inspired by the real-life story of the Patterson family this was historical fiction at its finest‼️ I think I enjoyed it so much because it didn’t really read like YA to me. Not only that but all of the characters were lovable and memorable. We even get a little family/relationship drama. Imagine being pressured into an arranged marriage yet the person of interest isn’t the person you’ve fallen for and even he happens to be in love with someone else. Or being forced to hide your true passion because getting married should be your only focus.

Olivia and Helen would never be allowed to live the lives they hoped for if their parents had anything to do with it. And let’s just say their brother John had the women swooning. But because the Davenports had a certain reputation to uphold marrying just anyone would never be allowed for any of them. Especially if they didn’t meet their parents standards.

Overall, I enjoyed the book from the multiple POVs, romance, the exploration of pressured family obligations, societal standards, self-discovery, and seeking independence. My only downside was the pacing but I’m still looking forward to finishing up book 2.
