This spinoff series from the Adair series is completed with this final story. The author says so, and with an epilogue that includes a bonus story for every couple in every book, it is for sure. While the first few in the series were kind of secondary characters related in some way by friendship or other relationships, these last two were the two children we met in the first books of the first series finally grown up and getting their own HEAs, and I was there for this completely!
Eilidh is the one that really did try to go off and become an actress like her uncles who were former Hollywood mega-stars. Now, I’m the kind of person who if it is a favorite/auto-buy author, in this case one who I am on their review team, I don’t always read the full synopsis other than to see who it might be about and get a general idea for the story, so for me, the part where Fyfe has a daughter dropped off at his house unexpectedly was a fun surprise, lol. But oh did I fall in love with little Millie right away. And Fyfe, wow, so much changed for his perspective once this “wee yin” came into his life.
I love the way the author has the characters make sure they are taking care of themselves mentally before they jump right into relationships with people who have hurt them, even if things probably are the way they should be at this point. Knowing that taking care of oneself before you are able to be in a healthy relationship is such an important thing that many people don’t think about. So even though there was a bit of back and forth between Fyfe and Eilidh, it worked for me as I read it.
I don’t read a ton of suspense, but this one had a lot of good stuff in it. So many bits, some that I kind of figured out, and other things that were shocking when they were revealed who was behind them. I like that there wasn’t exactly a third act breakup, but that doesn’t mean things were totally wrapped up perfectly either, again, it was realistic and done in a way that I think is healthy.
Another wonderful series is in the books from a wonderful favorite author of mine!

I have wanted to read this author since her last paranormal romance, and when I saw this one was set in Scotland, well my love of the country thanks to my Outlander obsession, I knew I had to read it! I was unsure if it would end up actually qualifying as monster romance, but it definitely became that about 3/4 of the way through.
I loved the characters, even if Lachlan was a bit rude at first, it made sense. Even if the rhyme the way he knew it, which we didn’t get the actual full bit to start, made me think that he should have been happy to see her, as I would have interpreted it as she was the “savior” in this case. Which, Keyanna or Key as she preferred to be called, kind of needed something like that in her life after how things had gone for her recently. And once she found out the history between families and what the curse Lachlan was suffering was, of course she made it her mission to help him solve it.
The family history was very unique, but I loved the way it fed into Scottish folklore and mythology. And while things seemed to be kind of straightforward, I loved how the author made some unexpected twists, even one I kind of saw coming, but it was different than I expected. The relationship with her grandmother started out harsh, but seeing how they soon were able to become family, and I loved her grandfather, it made for more than just romance, but also a family reunion story.
And let’s mention quickly the monster romance bit of the story, or should I say monster steamy “bits”, lol. That was fun how the author did it, and again some unexpectedness! My first book by this author that I’ve wanted to read for a few titles now, and I can say this will not be my last! Now to get caught up on those I still need to read!

I loved this one! It was a really short novella and it was perfectly done. We had all the misunderstanding that led to being enemies happened in the past before this story takes place. But we get a good long flashback in the 2nd chapter to get us caught up on Marc and Jamie’s history. We don’t quite get the whole details on the actual misunderstanding until the very end, but when it comes, it is just both funny and perfect. I’m using the word perfect a lot in this review I think, lol. But honestly, this is one of the best novellas I think I’ve read in that while yes, I’d love a longer time with these characters, the author gave us everything we needed in the short time to make the story feel complete. I can only hope the rest of the stories in this series live up to this one, although we’ll see since they’re from different authors!

This is one of those times where I’m mad at myself for putting it off. I still got this read before the pub date, but I put it off a bit past when I’d originally planned to read it because of a readathon and some blog tour review books. But once I picked this up, I was hooked! I wanted nothing more than to just sit and read until the very end. I’m so glad I was reading this over Thanksgiving break so that I was able to do that.
I’m the type of person who always liked any kind of personal connection I can feel to a character or a story, it really does help me get invested in the story. Unfortunately I’m finding that up until now I never quite got the total heartbreak of seeing someone very close to you pass away, but with my stepfather’s passing earlier this year, any death like this, especially from cancer, hits me really hard. But I still loved this story, and it probably made me understand so much more of the hard task on their last location they went to.
This book had so many tropes, but all of them felt like they were done so well. The older brother’s best friend crush. Enemies to lovers. A misunderstanding that kept them apart. The only one bed/close proximity bit, as well as the falling in love along a journey, not quite a road trip exactly though. It was so easily understandable for me why Maddie couldn’t trust things were going to go well, and all the reasons she fought things, even the end, the almost third act break up, I didn’t mind at all. Because it fit. Especially when you took into consideration how horrible a person her mother, grandmother, and even her father had been. But oh my gosh was Dom just perfect in how he handled it in the end. How he was patient. He was so perfect. Especially when we learned about the misunderstanding, it only made me love him more.
But it wasn’t all sad. There was some great banter, hilarious situations to get into. Oh my gosh, the tattoo scene, both hilarious and sad/touching at the same time. Maddie’s friends were wonderful, and I loved Dom’s younger twin brothers. I think this might end up being one of my favorite books of the year. So I’m going to highly recommend this to all my romance reading friends.

This book was a short and sweet holiday read, with some steamy bits though! I definitely had the hots for our firefighter bad boy. Both Pear and Brock have things in their past that make their actions and hesitations totally make sense. The two of them getting together through all the 12 days of after Christmas actually is a nice progression of stages as each little task or event brings them closer together. Both have things to work through, and for the most part they do.
There is a bit of a 3rd act breakup that made me a little irritated at first at what the lie was. Such a little thing that it seemed like they got overly upset about it. However the story redeemed that for me in how it was handled. It was definitely realistic for me, in that yeah, there was anger, but the way it was resolved, and realizing it truly wasn’t that bad of a lie, and that maybe the other person had tried to tell them at one point, all of it trickled down to a perfect make up and moving on.
I’ve only read two of this books in this loosely connected series, but have enjoyed them both. And listening to this one was great because the narrators were wonderful. They totally made it come to life.
