Beautiful Day by Elin Hilderbrand
1.0
My least favorite of all of Elin’s books. When people label her as a “beach read” and write her off as not being deep (which I don’t agree with, I think she’s a wonderful author and a master of the craft of characters), this is the book they’re thinking of. I know most of her books have wealthy characters with not a lot going for them, but this one just took the cake!!! I usually like an unlikable character, because it makes them real, but these unlikeable characters had no redeeming real qualities.
I will say, I’m also very anti-wedding. I eloped myself because I feel like the business of weddings is overdone and we don’t prioritize preparing for marriage over a wedding, so this may have swayed a lot of my opinion. But I’d be pissed it my mom died and all she cared about was leaving me instructions for me wedding. Like come on, how superficial can you BE?! And a lot of the wedding advice was just so dumb.
Hotel Nantucket, 28 Summers, 5 Star Weekend, all had petty wealthy characters but I just thought they were done well and really flushed out and showed true development, which is what I feel like Beautiful Day is missing.

I really wanted to like this one but the execution was just not great. The writing fell a bit flat for me, especially the dialogue and the “twist” wasn’t much of a twist.

I love a good twin story!!
I will say, Ainsley not knowing what rock paper scissors is made me lol and a little annoyed but it’s fine 😂

I really enjoyed this one. I thought it was a nice insight into sisterhood and caring for a sick parent. I was a little shocked at the end when Elena died?!?! It threw me for such a loop that I had to tell my husband . I felt like maybe it was coming but it still felt weird/shocking.
Overall though, I'd recommend this one for people who enjoy character driven novels!

I really enjoyed this one but it did drag. It took me a whole month to read but I didn’t hate it! It was just very character driven

I listened to it on audio and the voice for Naomi was so freaking annoying I just couldn’t!!
