The story and idea behind this book were incredible, but the writing was so not my cup of tea. Way too many pointless descriptions and not enough dialog. I just couldn't get into it. Everything else was done really well — I found the mystery part and characters rather interesting.

I don't really get the hype around this book. I think I would've DNFed this if it weren't for the audiobook and 2x speed.

The writing wasn't bad, but the story kept on dragging on and on and on. The pace was painfully slow. I wasn't really interested in things that were going on, and the fact I've seen the movie before reading didn't contribute to this since I already knew what was going to happen.

I also found Theo to be incredibly stupid, and his several existential crisis had me soooo annoyed. Dunno, this book didn't really give me any pleasure whatsoever... I can't say that it was a bad book, but simply nothing in it happened to be my cup of tea. The movie was better because it cut out all the boring and unnecessary parts, which was like a good portion of the book.

First of all, this does not deserve all the hype it has. Sure, it's not a bad book, and yes, I rated it four starts, but it's really not that good. My actual rating would be somewhere between 3.5 and 3.75? And that was right after I read it, now couple of days after that I've realized I don't remember a single fucking thing and that it in now way sticked with me, it's more of a pure 3.

As a queer, I'm always happy to read queer books, and I think this book did an absolutely amazing job regarding the representation. That part is pure 5 stars! Seeing the life of a trans boy, Yadiel. From his thoughts to his battles to how his family still sees him as a girl, to him being scared to use boys' bathrooms, etc. It was absolutely amazing to read, beautifully written and at points, to me, heartbreaking.

As for Yadriel and Julian romance... I did not buy it. To me, they had absolutely no connection, and I was not interested in it a bit. While I did find them cute at times, they felt too distant for me to actually care. Maybe because they're kids and I couldn't connect, I don't know. People say this is a romance focused novel, but I honestly did not see it that way. Maybe because I, a romance slut, was more interested in the plot than romance for, probably, the first time in my life. Everyone was screaming how cute and fluffy Yadiel and Julian are, but I only started to care about them at the very end.... like literally the last three chapters. Thought, I do have to admit that I found it quite nice that it was not overly sexualized like some YA novels tend to be. It was very innocent and... I wouldn't necessarily call it slow burn because there was no burn, but it does take them long to get together. So that was nice because I don't wanna read about sixteen year olds hitting it off, you know what I'm saying?

As for the plot and magic system, it's probably the only thing that had me going. I was very interested what was going to happen plot wise, even though I predicted quite alot of it. I love that the author drew inspiration for the magic system from latinx culture.

I think that the reason I did not enjoy this book so much is because I'm just too old for YA. Which is funny because I'm not even old; I'm twenty-four. But YA simply doesn't do it anymore for me — it's all the same old teen drama, with forbidden or impossible love, parents are being problematic, one parent (always the more compassionate one) is dead, love interests are pining over each other but arenin no way working torward communicating their feelings... blah blah blah!

If I were younger and still in my Twilight and The Mortal Instruments phase, I would be eating this shit up! This would probably be my favorite book ever. But now I just draw no enjoyment or pleasure from this sort of books (unless I'm rereading an old favorite). It's not a bad book. It's a great book. It's a book that teen me would kill to read because of all the LGBTQIA+ representation. But now, I'm simply not in the mood for this sort of books, which is why I left a higher rating — the book is good, just not my cup of tea anymore.

When I started this book, I was sort of disappointed because I've realized it has a sci-fi twist.... No, I did not read the synopsis; I just believed the hype and blindly bought the book. BUT, as I kept on reading, I started liking the whole mystery behind Jane.

I am completely in love with Jane and August! Their relationship felt so real but also completely surreal to me. I think I was grining like a school girl while reading their scenes. Their interactions were so cute and flirty, and such a good, slow burn!

While I'm at the characters, I also loved August's roommates. They were all so interesting and cool. I think Nico is my absolute favorite, along with Isiah.

The story was pretty good, too. The sci-fi aspect is done well. The romance is a lesbian slow burn with some cute smut. And it's all followed with McQuiston's simple writing style that makes this book easy to read and hard to put down.

I highly recommend you to check this book out. In my opinion, it's totally worth all the hype.

UGH THIS BOOK WAS SO GOOD! BEST 133 PAGES OF MY LIFE.

When I say I wanna read smut I mean this! Not necessarily the kink stuff but something with this amount of tension and chemistry. The smut was fucking incredible, though! It might've unlocked some kinks lmao! But it was so good, so intense and full of teasing. Ugh! Loooooooved it!

Manson and Jess were such interesting characters, and Laroux did an amazing job introducing them to us. I'm still surprised how she managed to show so much connection and chemistry between them in such a short time. Their interactions also felt so natural and flowy.

I highly recommend it if you want some good smut with lots of kinky shit. Do check out the trigger warnings and kinks involved before reading, though.

Well, this was.... I don't think I was made for dark romance. This was my second ever dark romance, so I'm fairly new to the genre, so like don't take this review as something by a dark romance pro. But nonetheless, I really did not enjoy this. I've read most of this book with a huge scowl of disgust on my face.

I'm not going to lie. I picked this book up because the romance/erotica/smut part of bookstagram promised me strong female MCs and a very good lesbian smut.. Yo! This book did not deliver any of those. This book was not at all sexy, in my personal opinion. I'm hella fucking gay 6 this was really not it. If this is gay I don't want it. I'm straight as a motherfucking pole. If this is kinky? I don't want it. I'm the vanillest vanilla, my guy.

What this book did deliver is painful toxicity. This Ruby girl is apparently trying to free Aura from her toxic life, her manipulative boyfriend, and best friend, while being a whole ass master manipulator herself. Just a different kind. The amount of time Ruby ignored a straigh up "no" from Aura, but it was dismissed with Aura's pussy throbbing at Ruby's command, and Ruby just taking whatever she wanted was beyond fucking disturbing. Especially if we take into consideration Aura's past, aka her being sexually abused by her stepdad as a child and growing up in a fucking sex cult.

The MCs also have 0 fucking chemisty. Which is hilarious considering the fact how badly the author tried to convince the reader their energies were so connected and how strongly they felt each other's vibes. I really had hots for Ruby in the beginning, but... That did not last long. Aura is an equivalent of a wet noodle. She's not even al dente; she's an overcooked, slimy noodle that has 0 personality.

I would not recommend this book to anyone. I wanted to give this book 3 stars to support an indie author, but I just can't. This was... bad. I can't think of one thing that I enjoyed or liked. The style was overall okay. That is why I plan on checking some other stuff Liza James has written, maybe I'll enjoy those more.

Well this was one of the best things to read during the month of love, gotta admit. This little novela was so so adorable! Though, I have to warn you both Iz and Marina are a little bit stupid when it comes to making decision and you will probably be annoyed.... BUT THE LOVE IS WORTH IT BECAUSE THEY'RE ARE SO CUTE!

I loved Iz ever since I've read Catch and Cradle. And I was so happy to be able to read their novella, especially since I haven't got a chance to read many books with non-binary MCs. Marina eas new to me, but I loved her!

This was a quick and fun read. I highly recommend you to check out Catch and Cradle and then this novella.

Ugh, all the fucking stars! 😫 This book was so goooooooooood!

I have to admit I was such a sucker for this friends to lovers; I don't even have the words to describe it.  I absolutely fell in love with Ox. He's such an interesting character and a nice refreshment from the usual sexy and sarcastic types we get. He has such a dad friend vibe, and I love it. Joe was precious. I just want to cuddle him all day.

This book has a lot of characters. Like.... alot! But I never found it overwhelming. They're all so unique and have such interesting personalities. I always wanted to hear more, see more of them. I didn't have a problem remembering their names or who they are, even Carter and Kelly, who always came in pair. They were absolutely hilarious. I loved Cordo and his Co as well — Rico, with his reality checks or how creepy some things wolves do, Tanner and Chris, with they constant picking on Ox. I haven't laughed at a book for a long time. But I laughed so hard reading this one. I'm head over heels for everyone in this book.

I loved that the story was character oriented and focused on Ox's development and growth, but don't be fooled there's some really interesting plot! All those wolf wars were hella intense and super interesting to read.

One more thing, this book ruined other mlm books for me. Probably because this was written by a gay man about gay man. But, I'll never be able to read an mlm book by a female author with the same eyes again. The sex scenes (very detailed btw👀) actually felt real.

That's it, I have no other words to describe my love for this book — an interesting plot with amazing and easy to love characters, funny and heartwarming, emotional. So many feels, man. One of my absolute favorites.
