I really liked the beginning of the book, I felt that the writing style was very compelling and the perspective of writing about your life through things was interesting. However it devolved into weird essays about queer culture that were written in a very inaccessible way only to transform into a diary without a clear ending. I would still recommend it but it grew worse with each chapter.

I can't explain it well but I just loved the book. It was nuanced, personal and thoughtful. I really enjoyed how it was structured and narrated. I would recommend it to anyone interested in the "art of bad people" dilemma.

I totally get why this book was nominated for the prize, the writing is excellent. The story was devastating and very well told, the only grievance I would have is that we spent too little time with some characters to really sympathise with their fate.

It was a great read, it's so rare to center the story around old people in dying villages. I loved following different inhabitants and seeing how their stories tie together.

It was a really interesting perspective, it's rare to read a narration with no filter. Thoughts of the main character were so honest, vulgar at times. At the same time it was so clear how living in a small village shaped her thinking. At times it was super sad to see her make decisions entirely based on what her neighbours will say, yet it was understandable given how she was treated.
