Classic Sanderson: fish out of water spores Heroine with a colorful supporting cast. The short chapters are action-packed and give the whole thing an episodic feel. Hoid's voice largely enhances the whimsy, but does grate sometimes.

This started slowly and I had a hard time getting into it. It really gathered speed heading into the second act, and after the episode in the Alps I was fully hooked. Handily the most effective vampire fiction I've read. The underground bar scene before the climax was inspired.
