So this is the first book from ‘New Adult’ genre that I have read (I actually didn’t even know that it existed before this book). So let me just say right now that I did not expect to love this book, I had picked this because, despite the weird cover and unusual name, the synopsis caught my eye. This book completely enthralled me in some sort of spell so much so that I couldn’t put it down and finished it in two days! It grabbed a hold of my imagination and spoke to the fan girl in me. Roseland’s writing style is witty and with a little quirk that speaks of today’s modern society. The book is full of pop culture references that made me giggle.

Roseland made her main character, Chloe, completely likable. Chloe a recluse who finds herself feeling closer to the characters in her beloved Dark Riders series than anyone in real life finds herself sucked into the book. Most of the time when I read a book like this the characters acts as if this happens to them everyday and they don’t have the ‘freak-out’ any normal person would have. Chloe on the other hand reacted exactly how I would have reacted.

Overall I highly recommend this book to any daydreaming book lover whose imagination completely runs away with them.

The book alternates between Shay and Jonah's POV which I really liked, it's not always that you can see book sides of a developing romance. I really liked both characters, Shay is a hardcore animal lover who would do anything to save a animal, Jonah is a Deputy who is trying to run for Sheriff who also seems to constantly get caught up in Shay's troubled. He even nicknamed her trouble which is really fitting. You can definitely feel the sexual tension leaping off the pages when Jonah and Shay come together and I rooted for them to get together.

The one thing I did not expect was the roller coaster of emotions I felt. I was sad when Shay describes how it feels to find one of her Fosters a home, you also feel happy because hello a furball just got a forever home. Anger was also a common emotion because dammit there were such bullies in this book and it was so frustrating that they didn't get what they deserve (well one of them kinda did). Shay was way too nice in this aspect, and while I know she did it to be the bigger person I feel like it didn't get her anywhere. This book also had a heaping of smut (which I actually don't read too much of in my books surprisingly) and it wasn't awkward or anything.

I do recommend this book as it's a quick read ( I read it in a couple of hours) and it just sort of lets your mind be at ease. If you are reading or just read a complex lengthy book and need a lighthearted book then this is your pal.

I really liked this book, and it didn't surprise me. Verity is very likable, due to certain events that happened to her before the start of the book you root for her since the very beginning. She's in a bad situation that just progressively seems to get worse. The first ghost you meet is Frankie, Verity accidentally dumps his ashes into her rose bush, trapping him to her house, she discovers however that some ashes are still in his urn so he can go wherever the urn goes. He and Verity soon form a alliance and with Frankie's help Verity is able to see into the spirit world.

Verity soon finds work helping get rid of a poltergeist for Ellis the Deputy Sheriff, things become complicated when she starts to feel attracted to Ellis. Ellis as it turns out is Verity's Ex-fiances brother. Secrets are soon revealed about the Poltergeist and Verity's life is soon on the line. There's a bit of mystery attached to the book that I have to admit I didn't predict.

I really liked Fox's writing, she has a way of carrying the story so that you don't get bored. Fox also doesn't thrust the entire backstory at you in a way that makes it hard to digest. She incorporates it into the story really well.

Before we get started *I received this book for free for a fair and honest review* I've been wanting to read more sci-fi lately especially since reading Leviathan Wakes but I didn't just want to rush into the next book in the series. The Universe Next Door seemed perfect

I know this is the third book in the Jake Corby series and I usually like to read the other books before just diving in, however it said this was a stand alone and I didn't need to read the other two to understand this one. I kinda wish I did though. from the very beginning I felt like I was missing an important information. I would have loved to like to book. The world is very thought out, Macy is very good at describing the world around Jake, I also really like the alien (other dimensional?) species, but I still just couldn't get into it.

If you are a avid sci-fi fan then look into the first book Contact Us. Macy did mentioned actions that happened in his other books that I had no idea about, although he did explain what happened I really wished I read the other ones. Also let me just say that theres' a dog in this and well.. yea. I don't want to give anything away but the entire time I was wondering how Jake didn't just fall apart.

Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden is a (perpetually) down on his luck wizard for hire. Named after three popular magicians it's no wonder the guy became a wizard. First let me say that I really liked this book. Harry was a really likable character and I just felt so bad for him because the poor just couldn't seem to catch a break. He is currently a month behind rent and struggling to get work. When two jobs fall in his lap the same day it looks like things may be looking up on the money front.

The first case should be open and shut a women trying to find her husband, all signs point to a man trying to sow his wild oats. The second case is a bit much, helping the police solve two brutal murders.

Butcher is very believable in his bringing magic into chicago. It almost makes me believe there could be wizards and witches outh there. Butcher also doesn't bore us with too much back story instead sprinkling it in in a way that encourages you to keep reading.

All side characters were great and surprisingly fleshed out. My favorites were Mister, Bob and Mac. I thoughtly enjoyed this book and with the series totaling about 13 books, I know I can turn to the Dresden Series when I need to get back into reading.

The main characters are not a dog and a cat, no the main characters are a Bartender named Teddy Tonica and a 'professional (purrfessional) Concierge' Ginny Mallard. It's why its 'Gin and Tonic'. Both humans are competitive and stubborn it's how Ginny convinced Tonica to help with a missing paperwork case. They both end up in over their head when their investigation leaves them in P.I. territory and neither of them are Private investigators (even if Tonica did read a 'Morons guide to P.I).

Two things I was happy about, One is that they gave the dog (Georgie, a Shar-Pei) to Ginny instead of it being the typical girl has cat, boy has dog thing. Tonica has Mistress Penny Drops who is a stray that sorts of adopts Tonica. The second think I liked was they included the animals P.O.V. It was not as often as I would have liked but I did enjoy those parts.

The one thing this book makes you think is that this would be a mystery with animals helping out and while Georgie came to the rescue towards the end you really don't get to see much of Penny or Georgie throughout the books. This was a huge disappointment for me, the tagline even alludes more animals scenes.

Another thing was I did not really like Ginny, while her interactions with Georgie softened her up a bit she was a bit too pushy. I understand why she felt like she had to push so much, her reputation and therefore her business was on the line but she just irked me. I liked Tonica a lot better despite him being kind of a cliche.

Overall the story was entertaining, I may read the second book Clawed to see if Penny and Georgie have more of a roll in it. I'd recommend this to someone who needs a easy-quick read or trying to get into the mystery genre.

The beginning of the book was a bit weird for me, almost as if the book started in the middle of the beginning. Reggie had already been visited by Rhys multiple times and has brought a dead frog back to life in the middle of science class, However I quickly got past my confusion and immediately begun to like Reggie and sympathize with her life. Her mother Arlene is a Alcoholic and so Reggie is in charge of caring for her and her mother. Plus she is constantly bullied at school and only has one friend, John.

We find out that Reggie is a Aether Mage, a powerful magician that has control of the four elements. Being a Aether Mage is illegal and they are being hunted and killed because of their powerful magic, and Reggie is on that list. Reggie meets Asher who agrees to help take her to Rhys in The Other. The place were Reggie actually belongs.

They fall in love and I can say I don't mind that. I really like Asher and he and Reggie seen to be great together. Although Reggie does need to learn how to control her powers, as her emotions cause her magic to flare.

There are a couple of things that make it so this book does not get all five stars. First of all Arlene, she just seems incapable of doing anything right, I hope in the second book to the series she redeems herself because right now she's killing it.

It looks like there might be a love triangle with John, Reggie and Asher. It's not mentioned in this book, but it's kinda hinted at and I really hope that it does not happen.

Also Reggie had the perfect chance to kill the villain and she wasted it. Saying she does not like killing, However she has no trouble killing others. It's a bit inconsistent on feelings on this matter.

I did enjoy this book and I will try to read the second one when it comes out.

This book is very charming and I really love all the characters. The main character is Maddie who about a year ago broke off her engagement. The book has flashback of Maddie at this time, so it goes to explain what happens in a gradual way. I really liked the flashbacks as it has shown how Maddie's priorities have shifted from her relationship and dead end jobs to owning her own (sort of failing) Tea shop. The side characters that surrounded Maddie are all very interesting and while the minor petty squabble between Nicky and Victoria was annoying as hell, I still really like the book and how they all connected with each other.

I also liked Maddie's budding relationship with Caleb, while it was a instant attraction the relationship was a bit of a slow burn. Maddie was great and I was able to relate to her (although she was much more easily embarrassed than I am) Her relationship with her parents was showcased as well and I loved her relationship with her dad (and an understanding of her lack of one with her mom) While much of the plot points were very predictable I loved it. The epilogue while a bit cheesy was great and I liked how it explained about how the characters lives went and how they all ended up happy. Sometimes we just need stories to have happy endings, and I'm glad this one did. Although Nicky's ending is still up in the air. Maybe a sequel?
