I liked this a lot. It reminded me of my favorite read of last year, Family Lore by Elizabeth Acevedo. I loved the speculative element and the way the stories intertwined. However, I REALLY need to start checking trigger warnings because HOO BOY there was a scene that caught me off guard.

Ursula K. LeGuin can do no wrong, IMO. I swear I highlighted half of this book. “An ambiguous uptopia” really sums it up.

I was so hyped to read this after The Woman in the Library, but it didn’t work for me, unfortunately. A lot of the elements were really intriguing to me, but the story as a whole, combined with a lack of copy editing, just wasn’t it.

This was fine. I think this series declined in quality for me, the first book was by and away my favorite. However, I love a regency sapphic romance, and the historical aspects of this one were fascinating.

Maybe my favorite book of the year so far. Fascinating world-building in an alternate US shaped by Scandinavian colonization. Incredible characters, queer/poly rep, an Indigenous heroine, DRAGONS, an academy setting… I could go on. Please please please read this!!!

Just as fun as the first one, also not quite as traumatic for me!

A reasonably good time, but didn’t live up to the hype of the first one. I will for sure continue in the series though, because this set us up for some fun stuff in the future!

This was just as fun as everyone said it was!! There were a few dark elements that I didn’t expect, which threw me off a bit. But the writing style really worked for me.
