Listening to Jaycee’s life will haunt me for a long time. I’m so glad she was able to write this and find catharsis and healing. The simplistic writing style and repetition of a few things is why it’s not a 5 star for me and my preferences in reading- not a reflection of her narration or the monumental impact of this book. Jaycee never went past fifth grade education and the style fits her, her words, and her story.
