i was really looking forward to this book but it was… lackluster.
elements of it reminded me of fear street 1666 and the grace year, but the story didnt seem to go anywhere with it. the horror elements were also lackluster, it seemed fairly mundane in my opinion.
overall, i wish some details would have been more fleshed out and others forgotten. a couple of the twists were good, but more could have been done.
connections between sam & rebecca in particular were never built, no i never felt empathy for them in their respective stories. the romance was never there for me, they never KNEW each other. and their parents being taken away and never really being mentioned again didnt make sense to me.
