Monsters of Men by Patrick Ness

I loved this whole series. I found the characters perfectly flawed, the concept fascinating, and the story (even though I would have liked a slightly more definitive and thorough ending) wonderfully executed.
The only thing I didn't love was that aliens played such a large role in the story - I'm not a big fan of alien-centered books. BUT. The aliens are kind of a background fact in the first book, and in the second book they are a slightly larger part of the story. So by the third book, when they are a main part of the story and some of it is even narrated by them, I didn't mind it and actually found it compelling.
Loved the whole series, highly recommend.

I loved this book. I read it in one day. It was kind of short, but still, I couldn't stop reading. I think that, because of my own life experiences, this book spoke to me personally, so I had a very emotional reaction to it. But, aside from that, it's still just a very good book with a topic that will make you think long and hard about your life and "what if."

I think this book had a lot of potential but the climax kind of fizzled. I was a little disappointed.

I so badly wanted to love this book, especially because the reviews were so great and other people seemed very satisfied, but when I finished I was very unsatisfied. Maybe I'm just the kind of person who needs things wrapped up and explained to me, and I didn't feel like this book did that. The potential for the story was really great but I also felt like some of the characters weren't very believable and did things that didn't ring true to me.
Ugh. When I finished it last night I was going to give it two stars, but the more I reflect the more I like it, in spite of my disappointments.

I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this book, but I loved it. LOVED it. The authors captured teenage angst beautifully and it was just a wonderfully written and complete story.
